Abstract

The worship of craft ancestors (Tổ nghề) in the Ke La area (Ha Dong) represents a distinctive element of Vietnamese folk belief, reflecting profound gratitude toward those who founded and transmitted the silk weaving craft to the local community. According to legends and historical sources, including Han-Nom inscriptions and other ancient texts, these revered figures are believed to have originated from the North, bringing with them the silk weaving techniques that contributed significantly to the development and reputation of Ha Dong silk during the feudal period. This paper, based on credible historical materials, aims to introduce the craft ancestors and the tradition of their worship in Ke La, thereby highlighting the role of this practice in preserving traditional craft heritage and nurturing the cultural and spiritual values of Vietnamese village communities.
