INTEGRATED EDUCATION IN TODAY'S GENERAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS – ESSENCE AND SOLUTIONS
Abstract
This study approaches integrated education as a fundamental principle of modern educational organization, clarifying the distinction between integrated teaching and integrated education, while analyzing key theoretical perspectives from Dewey, Postman, and Jacobs. Based on a survey of 216 teachers and school administrators in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh, and Hue, the paper reveals that integrated education in current general schools remains largely superficial, lacks coherence in implementation, and is not yet effectively aligned with the goal of developing learner competencies. On that basis, the author proposes a comprehensive system of solutions—ranging from policy and curriculum to teacher development and technological infrastructure—to promote more substantive and effective integrated education in the context of educational reform and digital transformation.
