The process of creating and protecting the owner right to Vietnam Sea and Islands before 1975

Abstract

History proved that Vietnamese government not only has created but also constantly implemented the protection of the sea and islands and its owner right since a very early time.  The process of creating the Vietnamese owner right on East Sea, especially on the two islands of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa has been a long-lasting process which lasted throughout three centuries of XVII, XVIII, XIX.

Based on the historic documents, we can confirm strongly the Vietnamese owner right to Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands in terms of history, geography, justice (including the international convention) and realities. Therefore, although we have to cope with great challenges, even the ones that seem to be beyond our abilities, our Vietnamese people are still in good solidarity, with strong determination to overcome every obstacle to protect our owner right and the entire territory of our country.
