Modern Vietnamese children's poetry in cultivating children's emotional intelligence

Abstract

Literature and arts, especially poetry, have great potential in cultivating children's emotional intelligence. The characteristics of poetry such as brevity, innocence, purity, simplicity, ease of understanding, rich aesthetics, or flexibility in space and time of reading/listening to poetry... are also the strengths of children's poetry compared to other tools for cultivating emotional intelligence. In this article, we limit the scope of our research to modern Vietnamese children's poetry, examining the possibilities of nurturing children's emotional intelligence in the poetry of this period. At the same time, we initially propose some effective methods of reading poetry to promote the values of poetic works in cultivating children's emotional intelligence.
