Thanh Que’s contribution to the literature of the south central coastal region

Abstract

The South Central Coastal Region is a narrow strip of land adjacent to the sea, ranging from the south of Hai Van pass to Binh Thuan Province. This region not only has beautiful scenery and heroic history but also is a literary area with unique features. Thanh Que, together with the writer Vo Hong, the poet Nguyen My, the musician Nhat Lai,... is from Phu Yen Province, part of the South Central region. He is a writer anh poet going through two periods of writing before and after 1975. Thanh Que is well know in the whole coutry. In 2010, he was awarded the State Award for his contributions to literature and arts. The most common feeling that people find in Thanh Que’s literature is the love and the compassion for people and country. This article is an evaluation of Thanh Que’s contribution in the context of the development of South Central literature from after 1954 to the present.
