The “human policy” ideas – from Mencius’ viewpoints to Tran Quoc Tuan’s political thoughts

Abstract

Tran Quoc Tuan, a remarkable national hero, politician, writer and also a military commander of the national army in the time of Tran dynasty, is considered one of the most distinguished military leaders in the nation's history. His thoughts were reflected in his works and theories, under the influence of Mencius’ theory of "human policy". His life and career have left a bold mark in the history of Vietnam, especially his spirit of patriotism, his will of national independence, his ideas of "public closeness" and "public tolerance" as well as his excellent military ideas. This article aims at recommending the influence of Mencius’ "human policy" on Tran Quoc Tuan’s political ideas and our Party has been deploying them.
