THE ROLE OF MUSIC IN CULTURAL LIFE OF THE EDE, BANA, AND CHAM H'ROI PEOPLES IN PHU YEN

Abstract

            Music plays an important part in the cultural life of the Ede, Bana, and Cham H'roi ethnic minorities in Phu Yen. Music has been associated with everyday life, from the moment of birth to the end of this world to be back with the ancestors. Music is the link connectingthe members of the community, helping them to exchange and express their emotions and feelings. Music also participates and assists in festivals and beliefs and is also used as a means of conveying prays to the gods, and contributing to the preservation of ethnic cultural values.
