Designing electronic maps based on SQL Server Spatial

Abstract

Spatial database is a field that scientists have been focusing on researching and offering many practical applications. It solves the problems of managing and analyzing spatial data such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Besides, the Spatial Database Management System (SDBMS – Spatial Database Management System) is the one which supports the spatial data models, spatial data types (SDT - Spatial Data Types) and spatial SQL query languages. In this paper, spatial database and SQL Server Spatial are combined to query spatial data and to retrieve electronic maps of Vietnam and of domestic provinces.
