Sustainable Development of Ho Chi Minh City in the Globalization Process
Abstract
This article explores the transformations of cities worldwide and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) in the context of globalization since the 1950s to reassess HCMC's urbanization process. Simultaneously, the article delves into analyzing the problems and bottlenecks that HCMC faces in the context of globalization. The issues raised include (1) Migration and horizontal expansion of urban space; (2) Changes in suburban lifestyles; (3) Limited public space; (4) Environmental issues. Faced with these problems, the development of HCMC... Ho Chi Minh City's sustainable development faces many challenges and needs to find ways to leverage the advantages the city possesses (a young, abundant workforce, the city government's support, and its international cooperation standing) while simultaneously addressing the issues raised.
