Nguyen Van Linh’s viewpoints on religions - His important contributions to the renovation era

Abstract

The renovation work of our country has passed through 20 years and has recorded important achievements in every field. These results assert the contributions of Nguyen Van Linh, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the period 1986 - 1991. The article focused on his theoretical and practical important contributions on the religious field, as an important part to carry out the great national union policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the renovation period. The four guiding viewpoints of Nguyen Van Linh in uniting religious compatriots in the great national block are: To appreciate rightly and have confidence in the religious people; To sympathize and understand their moods and aspirations; To unite the whole people without distinction of belief and religious faith by exploiting the common aspect and accepting differences in the religious faith; In the unification we should wipe out all prejudice left by history. The General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh has left fine impressions in the hearts of religious believers and religious authorities. Full text in Vietnamese Religious Studies 2005/3 pp.3-10
