Research on the Stability of a 16-Seat Minivan under Crosswind
Abstract
Aerodynamic forces and moments significantly affect the stability of 16-seat minivan under strong crosswind conditions, particularly with respect to lateral displacement and yaw rate. This study investigates the motion stability of 16-seat minivan in crosswinds by determining aerodynamic forces and moments through wind source simulation. A dynamic system of equations is employed to evaluate lateral displacement and yaw rate under varying vehicle speeds and wind velocities. Aerodynamic forces and moments are calculated using Ansys Fluent, while motion instability is analyzed using Matlab Simulink. The findings provide quantitative assessments of lane deviation and yaw rate of 16-seat minivan under road conditions in Vietnam
