Abstract

This paper investigates the application of active teaching methods in the instruction of fundamental English courses for students at Sao Do University. Based on a theoretical overview, the study selects and analyzes several methods such as group discussion, project-based learning, language games, and the integration of technology to enhance learner autonomy. Initial experimental results indicate that these methods contribute to improving students’ communication skills, critical thinking, and learning motivation, while also fostering a more dynamic learning environment. The novelty of the paper lies in the selection, adaptation, and practical implementation of active teaching methods (including project-based learning, flipped classroom, and station-based learning) in the specific context of Sao Do University—where students vary in proficiency levels, study time is limited, and technological infrastructure is uneven. The paper proposes several feasible solutions tailored to the university’s actual conditions, aiming to enhance the quality of English language teaching and potentially be applied to other foreign language courses.
