DUY TAN MOVEMENT WITH THE CHANGE OF ECONOMIC THINKING IN VIETNAM IN THE EARLY 20th CENTURY

Abstract

 

Since France conquested Vietnam, the capitalist mode of production was imported that created changes in the economy and society. Beside French capitalists, Chinese and Indian merchants were also active in the market while the Vietnamese people were affected by Neo-Confucianism thought which did not care about commerce and industry issues. The Duy Tan movement in the early 20th century impacted positively the economic thinking of the Vietnamese people merchants. This paper discusses the results of the Duy Tan movement that changes the economic thinking of the Vietnamese people in the early 20th century.
