Early warning of flash flood and landslide in Vietnam: Current situation and solutions for the future

Abstract

Flash floods and landslides are natural disasters that frequently occur and cause serious consequences in Vietnam. This article assesses the current status of early warning, including achievements and remaining limitations, analyzes factors affecting warning effectiveness, including technical, organizational, social and economic factors, proposes comprehensive and detailed solutions, focusing on improving forecasting capacity, improving the monitoring system, enhancing community participation, applying advanced technology, emphasizing the importance of inter-sectoral coordination and support from the government and international organizations, and highlights prospects and specific steps for Vietnam to build an effective and sustainable early warning system, contributing to socio-economic development and environmental protection.
