Law analysis with the assistance of AI
Abstract
Law analysis is understood as the task undertaken by a subject (in practice, by a legal expert) to clarify the content of rules codified in the law. The effectiveness of law analysis depends on the knowledge and acumen of the analyst: the deeper and broader their understanding of the law, including both domestic and comparative law, the better equipped they are to explore legal norms in a comprehensive manner, thereby producing analytical results that are thorough, profound, scientifically grounded, ethically sound, and persuasive. AI is regarded as an artificial brain capable of analysis in general, and legal analysis in particular. However, unlike the human brain, AI currently can only address problems formulated by humans in the form of command question; it cannot yet formulate issues autonomously. To some extent, the interaction between a legal analyst and AI can be likened to a dialogue or debate between two experts on legal matters of mutual concern, seeking consensus in the formulation of solutions.
