Ensuring the independence of National Assembly deputies in voter contact activities in vietnam today
Abstract
Voter contact by National Assembly Deputies is an activity to grasp voters’ sentiments and aspirations; while also providing data that aids National Assembly Deputies in exercising oversight and deciding on significant national matters. However, current regulations regarding voter contact remain incomplete in terms of mechanism and institution and are confused with public dialogue activities, which partially affects citizens’ rights. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct theoretical research on the independence of National Assembly deputies, the selection process for candidates, the development of a Law on Voter Contact for the National Assembly and People’s Councils, and support mechanisms for National Assembly deputies during local voter contact to improve the quality of the National Assembly’s supervisory activities.
