Calculation of Flexural Resistance for Composite Steel Girder
Abstract
Technical standards in bridge design are constantly updated to integrate the latest knowledge, with each new version created from new theoretical and experimental research. There are notable differences between standard 22TCN 272-05 and TCVN 11823:2017 that designers must consider account. A significant change relates to the steel structure, particularly in the assessment of the bearing capacity of specific connections. This article aims to provide a concise overview of the key concepts in calculating external strength according to both standards. To illustrate this more specifically, a comparative example is conducted on an I-shaped composite bridge girder with a concrete deck. The paper draws several conclusions and recommendations regarding the calculation results between the two specifications and the differences in the design steps.
