An investigation on the Exchange Information Requirements for 5D BIM infrastructure projects
Abstract
In projects implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Exchange Information Requirement (EIR) is one of the key documents that defines the information requirements to be delivered by the appointed party. To date, no information model has been developed that can fully meet all stakeholders' needs in utilizing the model. Therefore, the development of a BIM model must be guided by a clearly defined purpose, including cost management within a 5D model.
In Vietnam, the guidelines issued alongside Decision No. 348/QĐ-BXD by the Ministry of Construction provide instructions for developing an EIR. However, these guidelines do not yet detail specific applications of BIM. This paper examines the contents of the EIR and illustrates its role in the development of a 5D BIM model through a specific case study.
