Augmented Reality Application: Enhancing the Efficiency of Design, Construction, and Operation of Transportation Infrastructure
Abstract
This paper evaluates the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) technology to enhance efficiency in the field of transportation infrastructure construction, encompassing design, construction, and operation. The content involves a comprehensive review of practical AR applications across each stage of the transportation infrastructure lifecycle, from the initial visualization of designs and support for precise construction to effective quality monitoring, enhanced training capabilities, and the optimization of operation and maintenance processes. Through an analysis of potential benefits such as error reduction, improved coordination, shortened timelines, and cost savings, the paper also examines the barriers and challenges associated with AR implementation in this sector. Finally, it proposes AR applications aimed at maximizing advantages based on Building Information Modeling (BIM).
