Construction delay caused by epidemic
Abstract
The progress of a construction project's completion significantly affects the overall plan for the project's outcomes. The Covid-19 epidemic has posed many challenges to the construction industry, directly affecting project completion progress and indirectly impacting it through disruptions in raw material supply, labor shortages, and delayed financial flows due to specific procedures. This study investigates how project progress during the epidemic was affected by limitations in human resource concentration, the use of simulation technology to address arising problems in the construction process, a lack of detailed direct planning, psychological stress in operation, and shortages of raw materials and capital. The research findings reveal key factors affecting project completion. The study also proposes technological solutions to minimize the impact on project completion progress and to respond to and resolve situations that may arise and are challenging to control.
