Abstract

Schedule control plays a decisive role in the success of construction projects, particularly in the context of increasing project scale, complexity, and the need for multi-party coordination. This study focuses on assessing the extent and effectiveness of Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications in optimizing construction scheduling and progress monitoring in Vietnam. Based on a qualitative analysis of secondary data, the research synthesizes national standards, legal regulations, and practical implementation experiences from both domestic and international projects. The findings indicate that BIM 4D not only supports the visualization of construction sequences but also improves accuracy in tracking and comparing actual progress against planned schedules, thereby enabling early detection and mitigation of potential delays. However, limitations in human resources, technological infrastructure, and standardized processes remain significant barriers to fully realizing its benefits. Accordingly, the study proposes a set of solutions to strengthen BIM implementation capacity in schedule management, aiming to enhance transparency, control, and management efficiency throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects.
