Deploying common data environment (CDE) in construction projects in Vietnam: Opportunities and challenges?
Abstract
The application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is becoming an inevitable trend in Vietnam's construction industry. However, project management and the optimization of overall management processes in projects remain a significant challenge. Therefore, the Common Data Environment (CDE) was created and is gradually becoming a key tool in construction project management using Building Information Modeling (BIM), helping to optimize multi-party collaboration and project lifecycle management. In Vietnam, the potential for CDE application is enormous due to its ability to integrate multi-source data and support digital transformation. This article focuses on analyzing the opportunities and challenges of implementing CDE in construction projects in Vietnam. In addition to the main benefits of CDE, including data management, intergration, safety, risk reduction and enhanced project quality, the implementation of CDE still faces many challenges from factors such as technology, human resources, and the lack of standardized, synchronized legal frameworks.
