Ethno-Religious Group Relations with the Nation of Vietnam of Tra Co Ward Residents in Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province
Abstract
Research on the relationship between ethno-religious groups in Vietnam, particularly in coastal areas and islands is scarce. This article uses field documents and existing materials to examine the relationship of residents of ethno-religious groups in Tra Co ward (Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province) with the nation of Vietnam in areas such as economic and social development, religious activities, and national cultural practices. It
shows that that the area comprises ethno-religious groups, primarily Kinh people following Catholicism, Buddhism, and folk beliefs. Each group has strong ties with the country of Vietnam through bilateral relations with local authorities, in which ties in the socio-economic sphere play a stable role in many aspects nowadays.
