Abstract

Labour migration is a popular trend today, considered a survival strategy to adapt to difficult living conditions in the context of job shortage, low income, and lack of production land. Hardships and instability in livelihoods are the main reasons that push workers to migrate from their hometowns to places with more better conditions to ensure their lives. Labour migration patterns have become increasingly complex, with diverse scales, forms, subjects, and components, affecting many aspects of socioeconomic life in our country today, especially in efforts to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty. Based on research on the current situation of Tay people’s labour migration in Thanh Long commune, Van Lang district, Lang Son province, this article seeks to understand the role of labour migration in hunger eradication and poverty reduction in some aspects, including economic restructuring, employment, income, spending, and reducing the household poverty rate.
