Abstract

The national consciousness of ethnic borderland residents plays a vital role in the protection and construction of the country and is closely related to education. This article presents and analyses the national consciousness of the ethnic groups Hmong, Tay, Nung, and Lo Lo in the Vietnam-China border area in Ha Giang province through understanding their awareness and compliance with border laws and their awareness of ethnic policies and national symbols. Research shows that people with primary education or higher are more aware of the above issues than those who did not attend school. Therefore, although the current educational condition has been improved, it is still necessary to maintain the semi-boarding school system for students and strengthen facilities, human resources, and learning conditions from preschool to high school in the border areas. For illiterate adults, it is necessary to strengthen communications in ethnic minority languages so that they can raise their national consciousness.
