The Relationship between Parents and Children of Ha Nhi Families in the Border Areas of Y Ty Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province
Abstract
The relationship between parents and children is a topic of great interest in some disciplines of social sciences. However, these relationships in ethnic minority families in the Vietnam-China border areas have received little attention. In the current social development context, the relationships between parents and children are changing drastically in many dimensions, and this also applies to the Ha Nhi families in Y Ty commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. The article focuses on analysing the current relationships between parents and children in terms of care, nurture, education, behaviours, and the transmission of cultural values between Ha Nhi parents and children in the family, among others. Thereby, the article contributes to identifying development trends and issues in family relations in the mountainous border areas in the current context
