About Religious-Nationalism

Abstract

Religious nationalism, in which religion is the crucial aspect making the national identity, is one of the nationalisms. There is a connection between traditional religions and social institutions that is religions are used as a political tool. Contrasting to the perception of secularism’s roles, from the 1970s to the present, religious nationalism has been developed in many places in the world, even in the countries which have claimed to obtain secularism. Religious nationalism intertwines within the political, social, and cultural life to attach to the nation-state building process. However, there is a need to recognize the duality of religious nationalism to promote its advantages and minimize the disadvantages.
