Discussing cultural values reflected in house’s functions of the Tay migrants from Cao Bang to Dak Lak provice

Abstract

Housing and accommodation are not only the common space for everyday activities but also the space that embracing many traditional values for the Tay people. The Tay people have been inhabiting mainly in the Northern mountainous area. However, since the country’s independence in 1975, under the national scheduled migration program and volunteered migration waves to the Central Highland provinces, the Tay people moved migrated to provinces like Dak Lak. After some time to settle down, many cultural values of the Tay people were no longer suitable to the post-migration life context, including their traditional housing changes. Therefore, it is essential to make solutions for preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Tay people.
