Belief in Mother-worshipping beliefs of Vietnamese people in Hai Phong city

Abstract

The article analyzes the diversity of groups of goddesses worshiped in Hai Phong city, including the group of legendary goddesses; a group of goddesses with merit in history; a group of goddesses of Chinese origin; a group of goddesses belonging to the Four Palaces. On that basis, this article points out the unique features of the mother worshiping beliefs in Hai Phong, such as the predominance of the sea goddess worshiping factor, the unity in the diversity of religious ritual practices of the Four Palaces. The Mother Goddess worship in Hai Phong represents the mother-worshipping beliefs of the Vietnamese in the eastern coastal region of the North.
