Abstract

Houses have always been studied by many anthropologists. Around the world, many anthropological studies on this topic are both theoretical and practical. In Vietnam, housing anthropology has developed for nearly a century, achieving many achievements, but there are still gaps. Faced with new requirements, housing research in anthropology in Vietnam needs to strengthen its approach to international theories and expand its application to subjects oriented. In particular, the context of urbanization and globalization has led to the disappearance of traditional forms of houses everywhere, regardless of the rural and mountainous areas of ethnic minorities, the development of tourism, and the new rural construction process poses many problems for anthropological research on housing. This article presents an overview of some theories of anthropological research on housing in the world and the research situation in Vietnam. It thereby proposes a research direction of applied anthropology to meet practical requirements.
