Thai cuisine in Quynh Nhai district: the potential to develop community-based tourism in Son La hydropower reservoir
Abstract
Nowadays, the cuisines of ethnic groups in various localities have participated in community-based tourism services and have contributed to economic development. Food is an indispensable part of travel; culinary and cultural impressions contribute to the success of each trip. The demand of tourism has diversified, which requires that cuisine must now satisfy visitors’ requirement of quality, experience or discovery of new things of each ethnic group’s culinary culture in different regions. This article points out the typical culinary culture of Thai people in Quynh Nhai district (Son La province), thereby proposing solutions to exploit and promote the value of culinary culture associated with community-based tourism development in Son La hydropower reservoir.
