Finding the market for agricultural products: An application of organizational theory to analyze the operation of new-type co-operative
Abstract
Finding a market for agricultural products remains a challenge that agricultural service co-operatives currently face despite various efforts to reconstruct and operate under Co-operative Law 2012. This article explores the operation of a commune-level co-operative in Dong Anh district, Hanoi city through its service provision activities, first steps in growing safe organic potato, together with rekindling ideas about developing the value chains for the product. The study will analyze the operation of this co-operative in comparison with two other co-operatives in the same area to indicate the next step this organization needs to take to attract more farmers to participate. In addition, the study also applies stochastic theory and organizational behavior theory to explain the operation and effectiveness of the organizing models of the new-type co-operative.
