Adaptation of Khmer people to the changing condition of new agricultural cultivation in Tinh Bien district, An Giang province
Abstract
On the basis of analyzing collected data on water resource change, combined with in-depth interviews and field observations, this article analyzes the adaptations of the Khmer in Tinh Bien district, An Giang province to the changing condition of new agricultural cultivation under the impact of climate change. The authors also propose solutions which show the relationship between opportunities and challenges at each level of adaptation of Khmer communities to the decline of water resources. Two groups of solutions including infrastructure and non-infrastructure solutions are focused on, in order to bring about long term effects in sustainable livelihood development.
