Some issues on forest management and development policy from legislative and practical perspectives in Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province

Abstract

The Government of Vietnam has always paid special attention to forest protection, management and sustainable development. A large number of policies and laws have been issued to work as management and operating tools in the forestry sector. This article focuses on clarifying some basic issues relating to forest management policies since the renovation in 1986, thereby highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of implementing policies on forest management and development in Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province. On that basis, this article analyzes a number of posed problems to find solutions; by which it contributes to perfecting the system of policies and laws on management and protection of forest resources in accordance with the new situation and aims at developing the society and economy as well as protecting the environment and biodiversity in a sustainable way.
