Advanced human resource training religious officers for development of the Khmer people in the Southern region
Abstract
There are approximately 1.3 million Khmer people residing in the Southern region. This ethnic group is attached to the Khmer Theravada and has historical ties with Cambodian Khmer in terms of the same ethnic, religious and cultural relations. In the past years, due to the concerns of the Vietnamese Communist Party and Government, the Khmer people have witnessed positive changes in their lives. However, in order to meet the demands of this age of globalization and integration, it becomes important to train religious officers and the Khmer people for advanced human resource practices. Drawing on fieldwork data and research findings from conferences at the Academy of Khmer Theravada in 2019, this article discusses the real situation, and the importance of advanced human resource training for Khmer Theravada officers as well as related issues of concern.
