Soviet Ethnology and its Influences in Ethnological Research and Training at The Institute of Anthropology

Abstract

On the occastion of the Institute of Anthropology's 50 year ceremony of establishment (1968-2018), the authors want to review the heritage of Soviet ethnological work through its deep influence in academic work and human resource training at the Institute of Anthropology. At the same time, we assert that academic values and research experiences of Soviet academe has helped Vietnamese ethnology in doing basic and applied research over the passage of time. Today, in the context of globalization and integration, different generations of the institute’s researchers must recognize that Soviet ethnological heritage has played an important role in the establishment and development of the Institute of Anthropology during the past 50 years .
