The knowledge economy and its impacts on ethnological/anthropological research.

Abstract

In recent years, Vietnamese scholars have used the term “knowledge economy” and started discussions about the importance of knowledge, knowledge production and application. The application of scientific and technological products and outcomes in social life is especially significant in order to serve social and national development goals. The knowledge economy generates motivations for the development of many disciplines and fields of research at the same time as it helps shape them. Anthropology/Ethnology is a discipline that is subject to such influences. This article provides a broad overview of the knowledge economy in the contemporary period and its influences over the knowledge production process and changes in anthropological/ethnological research.
