Abstract
Protestantism was firstly transmitted in the Northern mountainous area in the 1940s. However, it was not successful until the 1980s, the Protestantism really came into the lives of ethnic minority groups in this region, mostly the Hmong and Dzao people, living in the provinces like Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Son La. The transportation in this region was not convenient therefore Protestantism was transmitted in the Hmong language through a special radio channel broadcasted from oversea. Some parts of ethnic groups who lived in remote areas had a low level of education, thus they were at risk of being taken advantage of their religion preactices and beliefs to dispute and trigger rebellious attitudes oversea patriots in order to destabilize national politics and social security. This article draws on the ethnographic data and literature reviewing to portray the features of Protestantism in the Northern mountainous area of Vietnam.
