Abstract
This paper synthesizes and analyzes the key concepts, methods, and research
principles of some new ethnographic approaches in anthropology, social sciences, and
humanities in the digital age, including virtual ethnography, netnography, digital ethnography,
and hybrid ethnography. These terms are creatively adapted from traditional ethnographic
approaches to suit the new research contexts, which is not only a pioneering step in exploring
various new issues related to the Internet, digital technologies, and social media but has indeed
opened up new ways for analyzing the offline space, online space, and hybrid spaces in the
research site in the digital context.
