Impacts of the Land and Forest Allocation Policy on Resettled People of Son La Hydropower Plant in Quynh Nhai District, Son La Province
Abstract
The land and forest allocation policy attached to the resettlement project of Son La hydropower plant has been implemented in the residential region of Thai people in Quynh Nhai district, Son La province has made initial contribution to stabilization of lives, production of resettled people. At the same time, the implementation of the land and forest allocation policy also has had its impacts on hungry eradication, poverty reduction, improvement of cultural life, environmental protection and usage of natural resources in the resettlement sites. However, the result of deployment of the policy still has had a number of restrictions such as the lasting of process of land and forest allocation, land shortage in a number of resettlement sites. The transformation of crops and aquaculture in some communes has been ineffective; the activities of trade, aquaculture, and community tourism and so on still have been new ones in the region of the Thai resettlers which have caused difficulties for their livelihood stabilization after resettlement.
