Some Changes in Dao People’s Economic Activities in Banh Trach Commune, Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province

Abstract
In the context of urbanisation and market integration, there are increasing
changes in the quality and quantity of the labour force in our country's ethnic minority and
mountainous areas. Through the study of the Dao people in Banh Trach commune, Ba Be
district, Bac Kan province, this article shows that the Dao labour force has been seeking new
job opportunities with higher income. Meanwhile, modern scientific knowledge and new
production techniques are increasingly applied to improve agricultural productivity. Thanks
to this transformation process, the lives of most Dao people here have been enhanced both
materially and spiritually.
