Livelihood of Ethnic Minority Resettlers in Hoa Binh Province in the Circumstance of Climate Change

Abstract

Hoa Binh province is one of the localities that are remarkably affected by climate change such as storms, floods, landslides, etc. Climate change has had a great influence on the lives of people, especially ethnic minority people. In face with the impacts of climate change, the State and Hoa Binh province have issued many resettlement programs and policies to minimize damages caused by natural calamities for affected households. The resettlement programs, on the one side, have ensured people's lives against climate change and on the other side, have created challenges for stabilization and development of household livelihoods. This writing analyses the livelihood situation of ethnic minority people belonging to resettled category under impacts of climate change; discusses a number of issues of policy to stabilize and develop livelihoods for resettled people, especially those resettled by the impacts of climate change.
