Some Thoughts on Education Policies for Ethnic Minorities in Vietnam at Present

Abstract

This writing analyzes some aspects relating to the implementation of education policies, especially linguistic education policy in the ethnic minority region of Vietnam in recent years. At the same time, it also mentions about some influences of those policies from different perspectives. Based on those, the author raises some personal thoughts concerning questions raised in the planning and implementation of education policies in general and linguistic education policies in particular towards ethnic minority people in Vietnam at present. The author also provides some suggestions of education policies for ethnic minority people in Vietnam as follows: it is necessary to aim at creating and developing a sustainable environment for bringing up and developing ethnic cultural values, ethnic identities and citizen consciousness instead of only concentration on achievement of national education indicators.
