Livelihood of Co Lao People in the Borderland of Ha Giang Province: Tradition and Change (Case Study in Tung San Commune, Hoang Su Phi District)

Abstract

In the current context of integration and development, the traditional livelihoods of Co Lao people in the Western border area of Ha Giang province have had changes. Although these changes are not comprehensive, they show adaptations of this ethnicity to practical requirements of contemporary life. These changes are very meaningful for the Co Lao people - an ethnicity with small population in Vietnam which have been facing with poverty situation and difficulties in development. This article shows the livelihood changes of Co Lao people and contributes to the enrichment of understanding of Co Lao people in Vietnam which is less studied compared to other ethnicities in Vietnam.
