Relationship between the Catholic Church and the State in Vietnam: Advantages and Problems
Abstract
This writing deals with the relationship between the Catholic Church and the State in Vietnam before and after the year of 1975. It especially emphasizes the factors that influence the change of awareness and action of the Vietnamese Catholic Church in the year of 1980 with the event of that the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam at the first congress issued the 1980 Common Letter which affirmed the path of companionship with the people for the happiness of their compatriots. Based on assessment of practical situation of relationship between the Catholic Church and the State in Vietnam, this writing points out advantages and disadvantages of this relationship in the comming years
