Abstract

The Sino-Vietnamese borderland has an important political position, is a defensive fence in the North of Vietnam so that the poverty reduction and food security ensuring for this region has been one of the first priorate tasks. The research findings show that the poverty reduction among the ethnic minorities in the Sino-Vietnamese borderland has taken place fast expressed in that the poverty rate  in common as well as among a number of ethnic minorities has reduced remarkably. The income per capita, including cash and food income, has increased considerably especially since the year of 2010. This proves that the ensuring of food security among the ethnic minorities in the Sino-Vietnamese borderland has increased noticeably. Yet, there still have been the limitations in poverty reduction such as the high rate of poverty households especially among the ethnic minorities; the unequal speed of poverty reduction among subregions and ethnic minorities and; the less sustainable poverty reduction. This has affected and arisen a lot of challenges for the ensuring of sustainable food security for the resident communities in the Sino-Vietnamese border region
