The Mother Goddesses Worship under View from Clause Lévi-Strauss’s Theory of Structuralism
Abstract
The Mother Goddess worship is an important religious form in Vietnam. Up to now, study of the Mother Doddess worship has attracted attention of many scholars from different angles of view. This writing applied the binary principle (principle of oppositional pairs) in Claude Lévi-Strauss’s theory of structuralism to investigate the altar dedicated Mother Goddesses, rituals, performance of invocation songs, costums and so on of the Mother Goddess worship; at the same time, analyzed a number of characteristics and process of transformation of elements of the Mother Goddess worship. Based on the research finding, the writing proposed some recommendations of viewpoint, policy behaving towards the Mother Goddess worship.
