Some Viewpoints and Raised Questions of Ethnic Classification in Vietnam at Present

Abstract

Investigation, classification of ethnic components is an important and urgent task of discipline of social sciences in Vietnam at present. With a desire to make contribution to more effective deployment of ethnic classification in the coming time, based on the personal perception, the writing generalizes some viewpoints and raised issues in the investigation, classification of ethnic components in Vietnam since the decade of 1970 up to now including the viewpoints and raised questions of the conception of ethnicity, criteria of ethnic classification, identification of ethnonyms, local groups and the way to apply the criteria and methods of investigation, classification of ethnic components
