Tendency of Cultural Change of Tay People in Quang Lang Commune, Chi Lang District, Lang Son Province under the Impacts of Urbanization Process

Abstract

Like many other ethnicities in Vietnam, under the impacts of Renovation, industrialization, urbanization and integration process, the culture of Tay people undergone and has been undergoing a process of change. Based on a field study in two villages of Tay people in Quang Lang commune, Chi Lang district, Lang Son province, this writing focuses on making clear the tendencies of cultural change of Tay people namely: the change of village space; the fading of values of material culture, language and literature, art; the restoration of rituals in households and communities. The writing also indicates that the current cultural changes of Tay people are taking place under the impact of many factors such as the urbanization process and development of the market economy, cultural exchange and acculturation, the change of policies and perception of cultural subjects.
