Customary Law or State Law: The Selection of Ra-glai People in Dealing with the Contradictions and Conflicts at Present

Abstract

The writing was based on the result of 600 questionnaires among Ra-glai people in 6 communes, namely Son Binh, Son Hiep, Khanh Trung, Khanh Nam, Cam Thinh Dong and Cam Thinh Tay belonging to Khanh Hoa province. From this survey result, the writing initially identified the selection of Ra-glai people in these localities in solving the contradictions in marriage, family, village relationships and conflicts in land allocations and property division by customary law or State law or by a combination of both. This selection was viewed from the social groups different in age, occupation, education level and gender.
